What type of questions appear on SQE1?
The type of questions that appear on SQE1 are multiple choice questions.
What does SQE1 assess?
Solicitors Qualifying Exam One (SQE1) assesses your functioning legal knowledge, that is, your ability to apply knowledge of legal rules and principles to practical scenarios.
What areas of law are assessed on SQE1?
SQE1 assesses your functioning legal knowledge of 13 subjects.The exam comprises two assessments: Functioning legal knowledge 1(FLK1) and Functioning legal knowledge 2 (FLK2).
Six areas of law are assessed on the FLK1 assessment and seven are assessed on the FLK2 assessment. Additionally, you will be assessed on ethics and professional conduct on both FLK1 and FLK2.

How many questions do I need to answer on SQE1?
SQE1 requires you to answer 360 questions. You will answer 180 questions on the FLK1 assessment and another 180 questions on the FLK2 assessment.
How are marks allocated for SQE1?
Each question on the paper is worth 1 mark. Every question you answer correctly, gains you a mark. When you receive your results, you will see how many questions you got correct for FLK1 and how many you answered right for FLK2. These will be your ‘raw scores’.
What is the pass mark for SQE1?
The raw score that you gain for each FLK assessment is not the score the SRA uses to determine if you have passed the exam or not. They use a scaled score system which is marked out of 500. According to the SRA, a scaled score of 300 is the pass mark for SQE1.
